Today's Beard of the Day belongs to Raymond Raposa, also known as the psychedelic folk act Castanets. I was running errands with a friend this afternoon and after Castanets came up on his Ipod; he talked about his beard for nearly 20 minutes. After consulting Google, I was clearly not disappointed. Also seen here and here and here.

Tim Ruiter's father
Tonight I was watching the National Spelling Bee and after each word, they would show the child's family that was in the audience. One of the contestant's (Tim Ruiter) father had an awesome beard that I would like to dedicate today's post to. He looked like he had just came back from spending a month in the mountains. Unfortunately, I can't find any photos of him, but if you watched it, then you know what I'm talking about.

Phil Harris
Anyone a Deadliest Catch fan? If not, you should be. There are fantastic beards on the show, but Phil Harris of the Cornelia Marie is my favorite, so he is today's spotlight. Another awesome part of today's post? New tag, Alaskan Fisherman Beard. Get excited.

Meet Billy Goat. Known as the "Heart and Soul" of the Pacific Crest Trail, he has hiked over 32,000 miles in his lifetime. He has and incredible story and authentic mountain-man beard [I'm talking to you flannel-wearing-impostors]. Check out the whole story in this LA Times Article.

Pete Hickey
Want to see the face of a true champion? Meet Pete Hickey, researcher of beards. After shaving half of his beard he found that his beard reduces wind resistance, keeps you warmer, and it all around more comfortable.
